PETERSEN MEDIA: Despite Mother Nature raining out the two scheduled World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series events scheduled for last weekend, Paul McMahan and Destiny Motorsports made the tow to Knoxville Raceway where the team recorded a seventh place finish during the track’s first event of the season.

“It was a good trip for our team to get to Knoxville Raceway and get some laps in,” Paul McMahan said. “We really wanted to race over the weekend, and fortunately we were able to do so despite the rain.”

With 23 cars checked into the pit area McMahan would go out early during time trials, and time the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/Champion Brand Lubricants No. 4 machine in 14th fastest.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the Nashville, TN resident would get off to the early lead though would soon have his hands full with Brian Brown. A battle with Brown would drop McMahan back to second, where he would finish, and place him in the fifth row for the 20-lap feature event.

On the slick and wide Knoxville Raceway surface, McMahan was able to get his machine going in the right direction, though the track would soon start to take rubber in areas.

Getting up to the seventh spot, McMahan would battle with Knoxville regulars like Austin McCarl and Lynton Jeffrey as he searched around the “Mecca of Mud” looking to keep moving forward.

The 20-lap feature event would click off in a hurry, and McMahan would end his night with a seventh place finish.

“We just didn’t get timed in well, and with their format you want to be up in the Top-Five to get points and improve your starting position,” McMahan added. “I have to thank my car owners for letting us make the trip out here, and my guys for working hard to get us here, and working hard all night at the track.”

Destiny Motorsports would like to thank MonDak Portables, Ft. Union Supply and Trading, Champion Brand Lubricants, All Star Performance, KSE Racing Products, FK Indy, HRP, KPC, PPM Titanium, Chalk Stix, Wilwood, Kieizer Wheels, Simpson, Petersen Media, My Race Pass, Speedway Engines, FK Rod Ends, Boss Signs and Graphics, Classic Ink, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Hoosier Tires North, and BulterBuilt for their continued support.

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-25, Wins-0, Top 5’s-2, Top 10’s-11.
