PETERSEN MEDIA: Paul McMahan and his Destiny Motorsports team overcame a trying week in the Northeast to finish in the seventh spot on Sunday night at the Weedsport Speedway.
“Thursday and Friday night were just bad nights for us, but we went to work and made some changes and had a couple of okay runs on Sunday and Tuesday,” Paul McMahan said.
Putting Lincoln Speedway and Williams Grove Speedway in the rear view mirror very quickly, McMahan and his Destiny Motorsports team hit the track on Sunday night with some decent speed as the Nashville, TN driver timed in seventh fastest in time trials.
Finishing fourth in his heat race, McMahan would line the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/Benic Enterprises No. 7 machine up in the fifth row for the feature event.
Using a good start, McMahan would surge into the seventh spot as he would spend much of the race battling with Brent Marks, Brad Sweet, and Shane Stewart. Getting up as high as the sixth spot at times during the torrid four car battle, McMahan would run a very good race that saw him pick up a seventh place finish.
Tuesday night saw the team travel to New Jersey where they would check in at the New Egypt Speedway for the Jersey Outlaw Classic. Again turning in a nice qualifying effort, McMahan would time in sixth fastest before running second in his heat race and move into the night’s dash.
Finishing in the eighth spot, the Elk Grove, CA native would line the Rick Rogers Construction/Maxim Chassis/Walker Performance Filtration backed entry up in the fourth row for the feature event.
Struggling with his car a little in the feature event, McMahan would spend much of the feature event fighting for position within the Top-10. A late restart would bunch the field up and as McMahan went to make a move on the high-side and would get shuffled back to 12th where he would close out his night.
“Sunday and Tuesday were night and day different from early in the week which was good for us,” McMahan said. “Tuesday night we had a good night going but didn’t quite make all of the changes we needed for the feature and we couldn’t really get moving forward. It was a tough week, but I am thankful for everyone that continues to stick with this team, and support us.”
Destiny Motorsports would like to thank MonDak Portables, Ft. Union Supply and Trading, Benic Enterprises, Rick Rogers Construction, Maxim Chassis, Boss Signs and Graphics, Driver Websites, Petersen Media, FK Rod Ends, Walker Performance Filtration, KSE Racing Products, ButlerBuilt, Simpson Race Products, Parker Engines, Keizer Wheels, DMI, Red Devil Brakes, Champion Oil, All Pro Cylinder Heads, Astro Titanium, and Hoosier Tire for their continued support.
