PETERSEN MEDIA: David Gravel and his Destiny Motorsports team looked to be on their way to ending a string of frustrating nights at the Lebanon Valley Speedway on Sunday night, but a brush with the turn four wall would cut Gravel’s right-rear tire late in the race, and his night would come to an end.
“It was a tough week for our team, but things looked to be turning around on Sunday night,” David Gravel said. “We were really fast all night at the Lebanon Valley Speedway, but unfortunately a late flat cost us.”
Getting his Sunday night kicked off on a high note, Gravel would time the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/Benic Enterprises No. 7 machine in fifth fastest and make himself Dash eligible with his time.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Gravel would battle with Joey Saldana and Lucas Wolfe as he finished in the fourth spot, and took advantage of his time trial effort and made a stop in the Dash.
With the four pill being pulled, Gravel would line the Rick Rogers Construction/Maxim Chassis/Champion Brand Lubricant machine up in the third row of the six-lap shootout before he finished in the eighth spot.
By way of his Dash finish, Gravel would grid the field from the fourth row for the 25-lap A Main event. On a surface that simply did not allow for much passing, Gravel would run in the eighth spot much of the race, though he tried everything he could to pick up a spot or two.
On the 16th lap, Gravel would make contact with the turn four wall while battling for position, and the contact would result with a flat right-rear. Since the race was beyond the halfway point, there was no guaranteed time in the work area for Gravel and his Destiny Motorsports team, and the flat would end the night.
“I was pleased with how Sunday night went overall,” Gravel said. “We did not get the finish that we were looking for, but we had speed all night long, and we were able to hang up front and compete. My team has been working hard, and hopefully we can improve as he run in Canada this week.”
Destiny Motorsports would like to thank MonDak Portables, Ft. Union Supply and Trading, Benic Enterprises, Rick Rogers Construction, Maxim Chassis, Boss Signs and Graphics, Rod End Supply, Driver Websites, Petersen Media, GME Manufacturing, ButlerBuilt, Simpson Race Products, Parker Engines, Keizer Wheels, DMI, Red Devil Brakes, Champion Oil, All Pro Cylinder Heads, Astro Titanium, and Hoosier Tire for their support in 2015.
