PETERSEN MEDIA: A tough weekend of racing paired with an extended weather delay on Saturday ultimately resulted in a 14th place finish during the 32nd Annual Kings Royal for David Gravel and the Destiny Motorsports team.
“Everyone was a little frustrated with how we were performing, but nobody gave up and we continued to fight,” David Gravel said.
With 57 cars checking in for the prestigious Kings Royal at the Eldora Speedway, Gravel would time the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/Benic Enterprises No. 7 machine in 37th quickest.
Deciding to make an engine change after time trials, things would be put on hold as Mother Nature had other ideas on this night. With a break in the weather, the team would make the swap just before a second massive storm rolled through the area.
Getting everything squared away, the action would resume just after 1am local time. Starting seventh in his heat race, Gravel would put on a strong charge as he worked into the fourth spot, but with only the Top-Three moving into the feature event, he would line up on the pole of the B Main.
Picking up the B Main win, Gravel would line up 21st for the 40-lap feature event. With the track in really nice shape considering the weather, it was not quite typical Eldora slick. Fighting his way around the ½ mile speedway, Gravel would pick up a few positions along the way as he finished in the 14th spot.
Friday night at the Eldora Speedway, things did not go Gravel’s way. Timing in 16th fastest during his qualifying flight, Gravel would finish fifth in his heat and take a trip to the night’s B Main.
Starting and finishing seventh in the second Last Chance Showdown, Gravel and his team would utilize and provisional to tag the rear of the field for the 30-lap A Main event.
Form his 25th starting position, Gravel and company would try some things in the feature event, as Gravel would work his way forward to finish in the 19th spot.
“None of us are pleased with where we have finished the last few nights, and everyone keeps working extremely hard to get us going in the right direction,” Gravel added. “I want to thank Rick and Barb Rogers for continuing to support us, as well as my guys for working so hard for me on a daily basis. “
Destiny Motorsports would like to thank MonDak Portables, Ft. Union Supply and Trading, Benic Enterprises, Rick Rogers Construction, Maxim Chassis, Boss Signs and Graphics, Rod End Supply, Driver Websites, Petersen Media, GME Manufacturing, ButlerBuilt, Simpson Race Products, Parker Engines, Keizer Wheels, DMI, Red Devil Brakes, Champion Oil, All Pro Cylinder Heads, Astro Titanium, and Hoosier Tire for their support in 2015.
